  • A19 chip on a 3 nm basis with 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU and optimized Neural Engine
  • 48 MP Fusion camera with integrated 2x telephoto zoom and 4K Dolby Vision
  • 6.1″ Super Retina XDR display with Ceramic Shield 2

iPhone 17e with A19: More performance, efficiency and gaming power

The iPhone 17e is based on the new A19 chip, manufactured using modern 3-nanometer technology. According to the manufacturer, the 6-core CPU works up to twice as fast as in the iPhone 11 and therefore provides plenty of performance reserves for the latest apps, multitasking and AI functions. It is supported by a 4-core GPU with integrated neural accelerators, which can smoothly display even demanding AAA titles including hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Mobile games benefit from more realistic lighting and reflection effects – a clear step towards console level.

Apple is also upping the ante when it comes to connectivity: The new C1X cellular modem is claimed to be twice as fast as the C1 in the iPhone 16e, while also being 30 percent more energy efficient than the modem in the iPhone 16 Pro. This has a direct impact on the battery life, which is designed to last a whole day. The battery can be charged up to 50 percent in around 30 minutes via USB-C, while MagSafe and Qi2 enable wireless charging with up to 15 watts.

The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display achieves up to 1,200 nits of peak HDR brightness and is protected by Ceramic Shield 2, which is said to offer three times the scratch resistance of the previous generation. The features are complemented by Face ID and a freely assignable action button for quick access.

48 MP Fusion camera and satellite features as unique selling points

In terms of photography, the iPhone 17e features a 48 MP fusion camera that combines two functions in one module. The integrated 2x telephoto zoom in optical quality creates the effect of an additional lens. Images are saved at 24 MP as standard to achieve a balance between depth of detail and file size. Improved HDR processing and an optimized image pipeline ensure natural skin tones, strong contrasts and precise depth gradation in portrait mode – including automatic detection of people and pets.

The device records videos in 4K with Dolby Vision at up to 60 fps. 3D audio and new audio mix options allow for targeted post-processing of voices and ambient noise. This also makes the iPhone 17e suitable for high-level content creation.

Another highlight are the satellite functions: Emergency call SOS, breakdown service, messages and location sharing via “Where is?” also work without a mobile phone or WLAN connection. In combination with accident detection, this creates a comprehensive safety network for on the road.

iOS 26 also adds new Liquid Glass-style design elements and Apple Intelligence features such as live translations, visual intelligence for display content and an intelligent call filter. Many AI processes run directly on the device and benefit from the improved Neural Engine.

Conclusion: plenty of memory, modern technology and an attractive entry point

The iPhone 17e combines powerful performance, modern camera technology and extensive security features with an attractive entry-level price. Starting at 699 euros including 256 GB memory, it offers significantly more basic memory than previous generations. Pre-orders start on March 4, with deliveries beginning on March 11. This positions the iPhone 17e as a powerful all-rounder within the iPhone 17 family.
